About Me
If you navigated to this page it might be for a few reasons. As of late I often question people "what gives you the right?", "What makes you qualified to tell me what to do, or how the world works?". These are heavy and may come across as rude questions but honestly, I think we need to question those in front of us and question the current state of the world. Please ask these questions, you can ask them internally or if you are bold you can straight up ask someone! If you are choosing to ask yourself these questions internally the result looks a little like what you are doing right now, seeking out information, content, stories, etc! Okay so now that we got that out of the way-hi! I'm Corrinne Justice. You may think I spelled my name incorrectly but I assure you it's correct. After 22 years I am finally learning to tell people they spelled my name wrong or butchered the pronunciation. I am from a small town in northern Wisconsin, when you dive into the blog posts you will see I address the great and not so great things about that place. Depending on when you are reading this the current state of my life may be different. As of now, I am a 22-year-old graduate of Saint Norbert College. I graduated with a degree in Education and English-focusing on achievement gaps and social injustice in the education system. Though those are important points I think that there is much more to who I am and why I have the right. In reality, every single person has the right to post, write, and present their artistic abilities to the world but often time it is way we should listen. I often tell people my childhood memories started after the adoption of my siblings, with that I think that speaks for itself. My life really began when my siblings entered my life. It might sound extremely cliche and tacky but I am so serious! Growing up was spent living the best childhood on our vast land with chickens, goats, and horses, but it was also spent addressing the racism and marginalization of my siblings in our rural area. It's been ingrained in me to take a bold and consistent stand against the deeply rooted struggles of the marginalized populations in America and what that holds. My father is a police officer and my mother is a teacher which plays a huge part in our family dynamics because in all honestly that's said not to exist as a trans-racial family. I am the oldest of four children, everyone is getting so old now, no one is little anymore:(. I have always wanted to be a writer and I quickly left that dream behind as life moved forward. I am currently a 7th grade ELA teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin-pushing for equitable education for our students as well as calling out bogus and toxic trends of our education system. It took a lot for me to return to the dream of writing, I had to find the courage to have my voice be put out there. I had to force myself to dig back into my deeper self. I am now back and investing in that dream every day, part of that is this blog and podcast. I hope that you too can dig into deeper parts of yourself that have been left behind.
xoxo
